Digital Radiographs and Intraoral Cameras

Our patients are like our families, and for that reason, we've upgraded to the safest, most efficient, and most diagnostic digital radiograph system in the world. We have recently converted all of our treatment areas to use this technology and we're excited to share it with you! No more bulky x-ray films, no chemicals that could harm the environment, instant results, crystal clear images for diagnosis, and far less x-ray dose. In fact, the American Dental Association calculates that four digital check-up images are equivalent to the small amount of radiation that your body is exposed to during a 2-3 hour airline flight. Our state-of-the-art intraoral camera systems also aid us in diagnosing and treating any existing problems. We all have to be extremely careful about x-rays and in our office we take every precaution to ensure the safety of you and your family.

These types of restorations require very little tooth structure to be removed before placing them, which makes this treatment a conservative approach that provides tremendous esthetic results.

Preventive and Diagnostic Procedures

Prevention of future problems is the most beneficial service we can provide. These procedures include your regular check-ups, oral cancer screening, cleaning, and fluoride treatment. To examine your mouth more thoroughly and to achieve an accurate diagnosis we utilize the most advanced digital x-ray system and intraoral cameras. Any findings are recorded in our integrated computer system along with the treatment plan that is decided on.

Tooth Colored Fillings

Composite resin filling materials are used to replace decayed or missing parts of a tooth. These materials are custom matched to your natural tooth shade to create restorations that resemble natural teeth. Composites form a chemical bond with the tooth, so healthy parts of the tooth do not need to be removed to hold the filling in, as is the case with amalgam fillings.

Porcelain Inlays and Onlays

These types of restorations cover multiple surfaces of the tooth and are used when the tooth structure is not strong enough to support a regular filling. Just like a crown, inlays and onlays require two visits to the office to complete: the first to prepare the tooth for the inlay or onlay, and the second to deliver it. Inlays and onlays are often made from ceramic materials and can be bonded to the remaining tooth to restore its integrity and strength.

Prettaeu Bridges

Bridges that use implants to be retained have been around for a long time. As technology and dental materials have progressed, so have the types of bridges that we are able to provide our patients. Dr. Al Josephsen is an exclusive provider of the Prettau All Zirconia Impant Restoration. Rather than making a denture out of plastic teeth, we work with a lab that specializes in making full zirconia bridges that has the time proven success unlike any other restorative technique. There is no plastic, no acrylic, no breakage, and it is comparable in price (if not even less expensive!) than a conventional implant retained denture. The zirconia bridge is computer milled at the dental laboratory, so it is extremely accurate, provides tremendous esthetic and functional results, and will not chip due to the extreme strength of the material.

Veneers

Veneers are very thin porcelain laminates that are bonded onto the surface of the front teeth to create a unique, beautiful smile. Pediatric Dentistry

We offer a full range of general dental procedures for all children. We are firm believers that your child's first few dental visits lay the foundation for their dental health. We work hard to create a pleasant and exciting experience for our little patients so they can have the healthy teeth they deserve!

Root Canal Treatment

Root canal therapy is completed when there has been permanent nerve damage caused by infection or trauma, or before a crown is put on a tooth. We use one of the most sophisticated root canal systems in the world. The more precise and sterile root canal therapy is, the better the results. Our system uses small files and filling material that are laser verified to precisely match the shape of the prepared root canal. After the root canal treatment is done, a post is sometimes placed in the tooth and a crown is made to restore the integrity and function of the tooth.

Periodontal Treatment

Treating and preventing disease of the tissues that support teeth, like your gums and bone, is crucial to maintaining proper oral health. Scaling and root planning is a common procedure that is intended to remove the hard bacterial accumulation (called calculus or tartar) below the gum line. Local anesthesia is used to ensure complete numbness of the area and the calculus can then be removed. After this deep cleaning procedure, patients should follow a regular maintenance and cleaning schedule.

Oral Surgery and Dental Implants

If a tooth is destroyed beyond repair and needs to be extracted, it is gently removed from its socket using special instruments. If you and your doctor decide to restore this area with a dental implant, there are a few ways to proceed. If enough bone is present in the area, the implant may be placed immediately after extracting the tooth. If there is not sufficient bone however, a graft of bone can be placed in the socket. After waiting a few months for the bone to heal, the implant will then be placed. After the healing process has been completed the implant is restored with a crown that is attached to the implant with an abutment. The entire process may take 4-10 months.

Tooth Whitening

Tooth whitening is a conservative, and often extremely effective treatment for stained or discolored teeth. In our office, we use a gradual approach with a safe, specialized peroxide solution to achieve amazing results. Best of all, we are able to whiten teeth without any drilling or unnecessary restorative dentistry and it has changed patients' lives. Here is an example of a patient with severe tetracycline staining. After only a short period of using our whitening technique we saw tremendous success of this case.

Single Tooth Anesthesia

In our office we use innovative technology to achieve more precise injections, enhanced patient comfort levels, and elimination of unintended numbness of the lip, cheek, or face. By digitally monitoring the pressure at the injection site, our computer system automatically regulates the amount of anesthetic administered. This system allows for a painless injection that provides profound anesthesia only to the tooth being treated.
